Mobile Arcade franchises have been open across the country for many years, but none of them are at the level of Games2U, a high-caliber organization devoted to making children happy and spicing up birthday celebrations. However, it has accomplished much more than entertaining kids at parties.

Operating a franchise business can be good way for entrepreneurs to leave corporate jobs and "be their own boss" without the risks that pure start-ups face. One young franchisor has been beating its growth projections for 2009 and having tons of fun while doing it.

Rey Puente, a teacher, wanted to do something different. He was hired as a game coach for the first Games2U franchise in Austin, Texas. After watching the tremendous growth of Games2Uand getting first hand experience about how much fun bringing games to birthday parties and other events could be, he decided it was a good investment and bought his own franchise.

A father of three has opened Scottsdale's first franchise of Games2U, a mobile video-game theater that supplies entertainment for children's birthday parties and school and sporting activities.

Greg Nelson said that since he opened in August, about half of the business has been birthday parties and the rest has been sports club fundraisers, school festivals and even business team-building events.

Forget the pinata for your next birthday party.

"We take the party atmosphere to the party," said Leonard Filipkowski, owner of the new Games2u franchise in Lakeland. "It's the next generation of bouncy houses."
